PermaLink NEW! Script Browser 3.0008/27/2008 08:54 AM
None
Finally! A new version of Script Browser is ready! This has a bunch of new things, and it finally fixes the limitation regarding large classes.....

First off, I know a lot of people have had trouble with the 2.0 version and large classes and I'm very sorry that the tool hasn't been much use to you. However, I'm happy to say that this version finally fixes that limitation. Second, quite a few people have commented on the performance of 2.0 being underwhelming, so I worked on improving that as well. I'm personally pretty happy with the way this version performs.

There are also 2 new features in this version that I am pretty happy about, and have wanted to do for a long time. First, is "open selected library". This will open the script library that matches the text under the cursor in the LotusScript editor. For example, if you were to put your cursor on 'INITools' in the following and hit the new SmartIcon:

Script Browser will open ( if it isn't already ) and scorll to that library.

The second new feature, and I think the biggest improvement is goto definition. Highlight any symbol in the LotusScript editor, click the icon, and Script Browser will open and select that symbol in the tree. This allows you to see everything about it. It's the next best thing to type ahead for custom classes.....

Example:
You are looking at this bit of code and wonder... HMMM.... getString ... where is that function defined?

Click it, then hit the goto ref button
and SB opens with that selected:

"AHH" you say.... "I wonder where else this is called from?" Then in Script Browser you right click on the getString item and choose references:

NICE!

So, as always, let me know what you think either in the comments or directly via email!

AWESOME STUFF. This tool fills a MASSIVE whole that IBM chooses to leave in Domino.Designer. The new enhancements are a big help. Thanks for all your efforts in making this tool available in the public domain. Its my #1 favorite Notes add-on.

very cool. thanks once again for this craig!

i got an error during installation and it asks me to report it, so here goes:

error 75 - Path/file access error

at the bottom of the screen the message says Installing tschunks.ntf...

hope that helps.

Peter - Thanks for the support!

John - The error is most likely due to the fact that the file tschunks.ncf did not exist. So long as it does once you open SB you should be fine. But, in any case, I updated the install file to handle that error better, so thanks for the report!

Superb, thank you! The class size issue hit me a few times, so I look forward to playing with this version. Thanks very much Craig!

This tool is awesome....................
It is clearly my favorite notes add on in the world. [and it's free, love that]
I love your stuff, and would love to one day program in "c" the way you do. Thanks again, and keep up the good work.

Hmm, i installed the new Version, but large classes are still not shown. I see them only in the "By Library" tab, if i open a library entry, only a small part is shown. (Only a sub that is in the scriptlib. but outside the class)
If i search for references, the large class shows up in the results, but i cant jump to the line of code where the reference is. :-

Regards

Hi Craig,

many thanks for this excellent new version! :) And it is so fast! :)))

But I miss two features:

1. In the view by classes version 1.x and 2.x shows available mother-classes in class hierarchie. I liked it very much and used it very often. is there a reason why it isn't in v3.x?

2. after minimise the windows by double clicking the top border of the window it is small. very good. but after actualisation the class hierarchie, the window jumps to the original position an opens again in full mode. is it possible to leave the window settings by actualisation?

Nice add-on!
I have problems with the 'find references' button. It looks like it doesn't search within Form actions form actions. I have a function in a script library that reports no references but there are references for sure!

AWESOME tool!!

but I'm having a problem with 'Find Definition' it works when I'm editing a script library, but doesn't work when editing an agent. does anyone know why??

I have installed the version 3.0 of this tool and now when I try to select references when coding lotusscript my designer and notes both close. I have tested this on another machine (wish I didn't) and it did the same thing, worked before, broken now. Can you tell me how to completely remove script browser or fix the error? Both domino and notes are version 7.01 and script browser is the latest version, no error message pops-up it just freezes and then says collecting data, then nothing happens unless I hit cancel on collecting data.

Also you may want to add in the ability of viewing lotusscript written in forms, views, etc? Script libraries are OK but many people program directly in the form and finding their code after they leave or you take over that project is time consuming so that would help a lot.
